If you're planning on working through insurance, generally you have to go to one of their shops to get an estimate. It is true that you can take your car to whatever shop you'd like to get it fixed, but they'll work off of the estimate you got from the shop your insurance sent you to, the only difference is that when they find additional damage, they have to work through an adjuster, whereas the insurance-approved shop can alter the bill without having to resubmit to the insurance company through a middle-man. But then again, they all use icar now anyway, so it's likely you'd get the same estimate from any of n body shops you'd visit. And finally, discussing insurance fraud on a website is, well, not the smartest thing you could be doing.
